Diese Fotoserie zeigt Landschaften aus dem Online-Computerspiel „Second Life“, die einen starken Bezug zu realen Landschaften haben. Es handelt sich um sogenannte „Bilderbuch-Landschaften“, konstruiert aus kollektiven Vorstellungen von Idylle. Am linken oberen Rand jeden Bildes steht jeweils der – emotional meist stark aufgeladene – Name der gezeigten Region mit den dazugehörigen geografischen Koordinaten. Die unmanipulierten Bilder dieser Sehnsuchtsorte entlarven sie als künstliche Konstrukte und Scheinidyllen.
This photo series features landscapes from the online computer game Second Life which have a close connection with real landscapes. They consist of so-called picture-book landscapes, created from collective notions of idyllic settings. In the top left-hand corner of each image is the – emotionally usually highly charged – name of the featured region, with its corresponding geographical co-ordinates. The non-manipulated images of these longed-for places reveal them as artificial constructs and pseudo-idyllic places.
